DIY Indoor Bowling

Turn your hallway into a mini bowling alley with this fun DIY game. Using nothing more than bottles and a soft ball, kids get all the excitement of bowling—rolling, aiming and cheering—without leaving the house. It’s quick to set up, keeps little ones moving and sneaks in balance, coordination and focus practice while they play.

You’ll Need:

  • 6–10 empty plastic bottles
  • Colored paper or construction paper (to wrap the bottles)
  • Tape or glue
  • A soft ball (like a tennis ball, foam ball or rolled-up socks)
  • A hallway or open floor space

Let’s Make it:

  1. Cover each bottle in colorful paper and secure with tape or glue.
  2. Arrange the bottles in a triangle at the end of the hallway.
  3. Place a strip of tape to show where to roll the ball from.
  4. Take turns rolling the ball and see how many bottles fall.
  5. Count the “pins” each round and cheer for every strike.

Creative Tips:

  • Fill the bottles with a little sand or water to make them sturdier.
  • Number the bottles and practice counting as you play.
  • Try color challenges: call out a color and aim to knock down just that bottle.
  • Make it a family event with a score sheet and prizes.

Why We Love It:

  • Simple to set up with items you already have at home.
  • Boosts hand-eye coordination and aim.
  • Encourages turn-taking and focus.
  • Perfect for rainy days or energy breaks indoors.
