Sticky Aim Play

Got a little one who loves to throw? This simple activity turns that natural toddler urge into a fun, sensory-rich game that builds coordination, focus and control. Using just some sticky tape and soft balls, you can create a “yes space” for throwing that’s safe and satisfying.

You’ll Need:

  • Painter’s tape, masking tape, or clear packing tape (sticky side facing out)
  • A doorway, hallway, or between two chairs to stretch the tape across
  • Lightweight balls (like ball-pit balls or crumpled paper)

Let’s Make it:

  1. Stretch strips of tape across the doorway or hallway with the sticky side facing out. Criss-cross the strips to create a “sticky net.”
  2. Use ball-pit balls, foam balls or even rolled-up socks.
  3. Stand back and throw the balls at the sticky wall. Watch them cling and stick.
  4. Step farther away, count how many balls stick or aim for certain sections of the tape.

Creative Tips:

  • Turn it into a learning game: color match, count the throws or sort by what sticks.
  • Let your child explore throwing from different distances and angles.
  • Add paper targets (shapes, animals or numbers) onto the sticky wall to aim for.

Why We Love It:

  • Boosts hand-eye coordination and aim.
  • Gets kids moving indoors in a safe and playful way.
  • Super quick setup with household items.
