Number Matching Caterpillar

This activity helps your little one practice number sequencing. It’s colorful, hands-on and perfect for busy little learners.

You’ll Need:

  • White cardstock
  • Scissors
  • Markers or crayons
  • Glue or tape (optional)

Let’s Make it:

  1. On the cardstock, draw 11 circles to form the caterpillar’s head and body. Color them in your favorite bright shades and decorate the first one with eyes and a smile for the head.
  2. On a separate piece of cardboard, draw and cut out 10 circles—these will be your numbered circles. Write the numbers 1–10 on them.
  3. Mix up the numbered circles and invite your child to match and place each one on top of the caterpillar’s body in the correct order.

Why We Love It:

  • Builds number recognition and sequencing skills.
  • Reinforces memory and recall as they practice matching numbers repeatedly.
  • Sparks creativity and self-expression through coloring and designing their caterpillar.
  • Boosts confidence and independence, giving your kid a sense of accomplishment when they complete the caterpillar correctly.
