Leaf Feather Turkey

This adorable turkey is a perfect mix of creativity, texture and hands-on play that little ones will love.

You’ll Need:

  • Colored tissue paper or crepe paper (red, yellow, blue, green, pink, orange, brown)
  • White cardstock or thick paper
  • Brown, orange and red vinyl (for the head, beak and wattle)
  • Googly eye
  • Glue stick
  • Pencil or marker

Let’s Make it:

  1. Start by drawing a big turkey outline — include the body, feathers and legs.
  2. Tear colored tissue paper into small pieces and roll them into soft little balls.
  3. Glue the brown paper balls onto the body, then fill the feathers with bright colors to make a rainbow tail.
  4. Cut the head, beak and wattle from vinyl and glue them in place.
  5. Add a googly eye — and just like that, your turkey is ready.

Why We Love It:

  • Helps develop focus and patience.
  • Encourages creativity and pattern-making while choosing and arranging the feathers.
  • It’s a perfect bonding activity to do together as a family while talking about gratitude and the colors of fall.
