Masking Tape Car Tracks

Need something quick, screen-free, and full of energy? This simple tape road turns any floor into a driving adventure which spark hours of imaginative play. No measuring and no fancy tools needed. Just tape, floor space, and a few tiny cars!

You’ll Need:

  • Masking tape (painter’s tape or washi tape also works)
  • A flat surface like your living room floor or hallway
  • A few toy cars

Let’s Build the Road:

  1. Stick one end of the tape to the floor and start rolling. No need to make perfect lines or sharp corners—just let the tape twist and turn wherever your hand feels like going.
  2. Keep laying strips of tape so they connect and form a looping path. Want a never-ending road? Loop it around to connect back to where you started!
  3. Tear the tape with your hands as you go. Don’t worry about clean edges—your kid won’t mind.
  4. Hand over the cars and let the play begin!

Creative tips:

  • Add simple “parking lots,” intersections, or even a masking tape tunnel using blocks and paper.
  • Add Lego blocks to create a busy city along the roads, and place toy animals on the outskirts to build a little farm for extra imaginative play.

Why We Love It:

  • It takes 2 minutes to set up (seriously!)
  • Sparks imaginative play and storytelling
  • Encourages spatial thinking
  • Can be left up for days and peeled off when you’re ready
