1. Fold your paper plate in half and press the crease firmly—this folded shape becomes the whale’s body.
2. On the folded edge (right side) fold down a triangle at the tip. Open it back up and tuck it inward to round off the whale’s head.
– Tail (left side): Draw a big, curved line like half a fat leaf starting in the middle of the folded edge. Cut along this line, but stop about 5 mm before the end so the tail stays attached. At the beginning of this cut, make a smaller curved triangle cut to split the end into two flukes.
– Mouth (right side): At the bottom on the head edge, snip out a tiny wedge (about 1–1.5 cm deep). This makes the whale’s open mouth.
4. Paint the body black, leaving a white belly and an oval patch near the eye. Add a little eye. Let it dry completely.
5. Stand your whale on its curved belly. The folded plate lets it gently rock—just like it’s swimming!
