Pumpkin Turkey Craft

Turn an ordinary pumpkin into the cutest little turkey at your Thanksgiving table. It’s a simple way to celebrate the season of gratitude while letting little hands get creative.

You’ll Need:

  • A small pumpkin (real or faux)
  • Fall leaves
  • A4 paper sheet
  • Brown, yellow and red foam paper (for the turkey’s head, beak and wattle)
  • Googly eyes
  • Glue or tape

Let’s Make it:

  1. Start by giving your turkey a friendly face. Cut a head shape from brown paper, a yellow triangle for the beak and a wiggly red wattle. Glue on the googly eyes to bring your turkey to life, then attach the head right on top of the pumpkin using the stem to help it stand tall and steady.
  2. Now for the colorful feathers — spread glue over an A4 sheet of paper and press real fall leaves in a big fan shape. Let it dry, then stick it to the back of your pumpkin so it looks like your turkey has a beautiful leafy tail.
  3. To finish, you can cut out tiny paper “feet” and glue them at the bottom, or leave it just as it is — simple, sweet and oh-so-adorable.

Why We Love It:

  • Encourages creativity and self-expression through color, texture and design choices.
  • Strengthens focus and sequencing as kids follow each crafting step in order.
  • Turns an ordinary pumpkin into an adorable Thanksgiving centerpiece.
  • Sparks conversations about gratitude and family traditions while crafting.
