Ice Brick Painters

Let’s beat the heat with some cool, colorful, melt-as-you-go art fun.

You’ll Need:

  • A muffin tin
  • Water
  • Food coloring
  • Construction blocks or toys (for handles)
  • Paper or old white clothes also work well
  • Freezer

Let’s Make it:

  1. Fill each muffin tin cup about ¾ full of water.
  2. Drop a small amount of food coloring into each cup—use different colors or mix your own for a fun surprise.
  3. Place one construction piece into each cup. These will freeze into the ice and act as playful little handles for painting later.
  4. Pop the muffin tin into the freezer and let it freeze completely (about 4–6 hours).

Why We Love It:

  • Perfect for keeping little ones cool, curious, and creatively engaged on hot summer days.
  • Builds patience as kids wait for their colorful ice paints to freeze, adding anticipation and excitement to the activity.
  • Sparks creativity—each icy “brush” melts into a completely unique masterpiece.
