Witch’s Magic Brew

It’s time to brew some Halloween magic and turn simple colors into a bubbling potion your little witch will love.

You’ll Need:

  • Paper
  • Black marker
  • Plastic sleeve
  • Shortened wooden skewer
  • Food coloring (3–4 colors work best)
  • Double-sided tape
  • Kitchen paper towel
  • Pipette or dropper (optional)
  • Small bowls or cups for mixing colors

Let’s Make it:

  1. Draw a large cauldron on a sheet of white paper and decorate it with whatever comes to your mind, like a tree with a black cat on it, a witch, a ghost…
  2. Place your drawing inside a clear plastic sleeve. Cut a piece of kitchen paper towel to fit inside the cauldron and glue it to the front of the plastic sleeve so it sits directly over the cauldron.
  3. Mix a few colors of food coloring with water. Using a pipette, place drops onto the plastic sleeve above the cauldron, then invite your kid to use a shortened wooden skewer to slide the colors down into the cauldron and create a magical potion effect.

Why We Love It:

  • Encourages focus and concentration as kids carefully guide the colors into the cauldron.
  • Introduces early color-mixing concepts as children watch different colors blend and create new shades.
  • Budget-friendly and easy to set up with simple household materials.
