Magnetic Shape People

This hands-on activity will encourage your little learner to recognize shapes, think creatively and complete each body using the correct magnetic tiles.

You’ll Need:

  • Magnetic tiles in different shapes and colours
  • Large sheet of paper
  • Black marker
  • Tape (optional, to secure the paper)

Let’s Make tit:

  1. Tape a large sheet of paper to a table or the floor. Along the top of the paper draw three funny faces, leaving plenty of space between each one.
  2. Use your magnetic tiles to build a body underneath each face. Arrange the tiles to create the body, arms and legs, using different shapes and sizes. Once you’re happy with the designs, trace around each tile with a marker, then remove all the tiles and place them beside the paper.
  3. Invite your kid to match each magnetic tile to its outline and rebuild the people. As they play, talk about the names of the shapes, their colours, and how many sides each shape has.

Why We Love It:

  • Introduces spatial awareness and matching skills.
  • Makes learning shapes fun, colourful and interactive.
  • A budget-friendly activity that can be used again and again.
