Little Miss Autumn

Who needs fancy craft supplies when nature gives us everything to create a beautiful autumn masterpiece

You’ll Need:

  • White paper
  • Colourful autumn leaves in different shapes and sizes
  • Black marker and coloured pencils
  • Child-safe glue

Let’s Make It:

  1. Head outside with your little one to collect colourful fall leaves. Look for different shapes, sizes and colours.
  2. Start by drawing the outline of a little girl on a sheet of paper to get the body proportions right. Choose a leaf that matches the size of her body, trim it to fit and glue it in place to create her dress. Cut a smaller piece of leaf for the hood and glue it above her dress.
  3. Draw her facial features, add a few strands of hair peeking out from under the hood and finish with her legs and boots.
  4. Arrange colourful maple leaves to create butterfly wings. Once you’re happy with their positions, glue them down and use a black marker to draw the butterflies’ bodies and antennae between the leaves.
  5. Scatter a few extra leaves of different shapes, sizes and colours around your girl and butterflies to create a beautiful autumn scene. Glue everything in place and let your masterpiece dry.

Why We Love It:

  • Combines fresh air, leaf collecting and discovering the wonderful changes happening in nature.
  • Inspires little ones to see beyond the shape of a leaf and imagine what it could become.
  • Choosing the right leaves and arranging them into shapes builds decision-making skills.
