Color Hunt Sorting Game

This simple, hands-on color hunt helps little ones learn colors while building focus, sorting and observation skills through play.

You’ll Need:

  • Colorful sheets of cardstock or construction paper (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, white, brown)
  • Small toys or household items in matching colors
  • A clear space to set up your “color zones”

Let’s Make it:

  1. Lay out one sheet of colored paper for each color—these will be your sorting mats.
  2. Invite your child to look around and find small items that match each color.
  3. As they place each item on the right mat, name the color together and celebrate their discoveries.

Why We Love It:

  • Builds color recognition and sorting skills in a playful, low-pressure way.
  • Encourages observation, independence and focus.
  • Turns everyday objects into exciting learning tools with no prep required.
