Popsicle Stick Pencils

Get ready for some back-to-school crafting fun that brings color, creativity and smiles to your learning space.

You’ll Need:

  • 3 popsicle sticks per pencil
  • Foam paper (yellow, red, orange and light brown)
  • Googly eyes
  • Pipe cleaners (for arms)
  • Glue and scissors
  • Black marker

Let’s Make it:

  1. Cut a rectangle from foam paper wide enough to fit three popsicle sticks side by side. Make sure it’s long enough to include space for both the pencil tip and the eraser. On one short end, trim it into a pointed shape — just like a real pencil tip.
  2. To make the eraser, line up three popsicle sticks on your orange foam paper and trace their curved tops to get the perfect wavy edge. Finish the shape into a rectangle with rounded corners, then glue it on top of your pencil to complete the eraser.
  3. Add the final touches by giving your pencil a friendly face. Glue on googly eyes, draw eyebrows and a big smile and twist a small piece of pipe cleaner into arms to bring your cheerful pencil buddy to life.

Why We Love It:

  • Sparks excitement about learning and back-to-school time.
  • Promotes focus and patience while decorating each little detail.
  • Builds hand–eye coordination as kids measure, trace, and glue with care.
