Rainbow Water Walk

Turn a simple paper towel into a magical rainbow—it’s where art meets science and a little bit of magic happens.

You’ll Need:

  • Paper towel
  • Washable markers in rainbow colors
  • 2 small cups or bowls
  • Water

Let’s Make it:

  1. Lay the paper towel flat and use markers to color both ends in rainbow stripes, leaving the center section blank.
  2. Fill each cup with water about halfway.
  3. Place each end of the paper towel into a cup, keeping the middle section above the cups.
  4. The water will travel up the paper towel, carrying the colors into the middle where they blend into a rainbow.

Why We Love It:

  • Combines art and science in one fun project.
  • Teaches kids about capillary action in a hands-on way.
  • Quick, easy and uses supplies you already have at home.
