Santa and Gingerbread Chimney

Oh no — Santa’s stuck again! When it’s cold outside, turn an ordinary toilet paper roll into a jolly Santa chimney scene that’s full of laughter and imagination.

You’ll Need:

  • Toilet paper roll
  • Red, black, white, and yellow foam paper
  • Black marker
  • Scissors and glue
  • Red ribbon or string
  • Red paint and a brush

Let’s Make it:

  1. Paint the toilet paper roll red and let it dry completely — this will be Santa’s chimney.
  2. Once dry, use a black marker to draw brick lines all around to make it look like a chimney.
  3. Cut out two black boots and small white foam strips for the boot trim, then cut two small rectangles from red foam paper for Santa’s trousers. Connect the rectangles to the boots and glue them just under the white trim, then attach the legs at the top of the roll so it looks like Santa’s legs are sticking out of the chimney.
  4. From black foam paper, cut a balloon shape for Santa’s sack and glue it to the side of the toilet paper roll. On the curved part, attach a small red ribbon or a strip of red paper shaped like a bow to finish Santa’s gift bag.
  5. From yellow foam paper, cut a tiny gingerbread man, draw on a smile and buttons, and glue him peeking out from the bag.
  6. Let everything dry and Santa’s ready for Christmas Eve (as soon as he wriggles free!).

Why We Love It:

  • Adds a funny, playful twist to the classic Santa craft.
  • Encourages storytelling, fine motor skills, and creativity.
  • Uses simple, festive materials you already have at home.
  • Brings lots of giggles and imagination to holiday playtime.
