Yarn-Tied Christmas Tree

Turn simple yarn into a cute little Christmas tree that your toddler can proudly hang on the family tree.

You’ll Need:

  • Green yarn (any shades you love)
  • Scissors
  • Small star sticker or foam star
  • Optional: mini star embellishments

Let’s Make it:

  1. Wrap the yarn around your 5 fingers about 10–15 times to make the large loop, slide it off your hand and tie it tightly at the top. Repeat the same steps by wrapping yarn around 4 fingers for the medium loop and 3 fingers for the small loop, sliding each bundle off and tying it.
  2. Cut each loop bundle open on the side opposite where it’s tied. Each bundle will open into a fluffy tassel of yarn strands.
  3. Place the large tassel on the table. Lay the medium tassel on top, facing the opposite direction. Add the small tassel on top, again in the opposite direction. Tie them together firmly with an extra piece of yarn to keep all three layers together.
  4. Let your little one decorate it in their own way with whatever you have—stickers, stars, beads, buttons… anything is perfect.

Why We Love It:

  • Uses materials you already have, making it budget-friendly and easy to set up anytime.
  • Boosts confidence, as kids proudly see their ornament hanging on the tree with the “big” decorations.
  • Promotes patience and focus, as kids follow each step and watch their tree come together layer by layer.
