Water-Color Fireworks

See your drawings come to life, just like a surprise fireworks show.

You’ll Need:

  • White paper towels (the kind with layers works best)
  • Washable markers (black + colors)
  • A shallow plate or tray
  • Water

Let’s Make it:

  1. Fold a paper towel in half. On the top layer only use a black marker to draw fireworks, maple leaves or rockets.
  2. Lift the top layer and color underneath using bright markers — color right under your drawings and don’t worry if it’s not perfect.
  3. Place the folded paper towel gently on the water and watch the colors rise and spread like fireworks.

Why We Love It:

  • Feels like magic but teaches kids about absorption and color spreading.
  • Encourages creativity with a simple, low-mess setup.
  • Perfect Canada Day craft that doubles as a mini science experiment.
