Animal Ribbon Rescue

This hands-on activity is perfect for toddlers – it strengthens problem-solving and hand-eye coordination while keeping them focused and entertained.

You’ll Need:

  • A basket or container with holes (like a laundry basket or colander)
  • Animals, cars or any favorite toys your child enjoys
  • Ribbon, yarn or string

Let’s Make it:

  1. Place the toys inside the basket and thread ribbon through the holes, crisscrossing to create a “web” that traps the animals inside.
  2. Invite your little one to reach in and rescue the animals by working around or through the ribbon web.
  3. Mix up the animals, switch the ribbon pattern or add new items to rescue each round.

Why We Love It:

  • Strengthens fine motor control and coordination.
  • Encourages problem-solving and focus.
  • Great for pretend play and storytelling.
  • Easy to set up with stuff you already have at home.
