Proudly Canadian

This fun craft brings together art, pride and play, helping your child learn about Canadian symbols in a hands-on way.

You’ll Need:

  • A piece of cardboard (for the flag)
  • Red and white paint to bring the flag to life
  • Red string or yarn
  • Foam paper (red, brown, yellow, white and black)
  • Scissors and glue
  • Markers and googly eyes (optional)
  • Tape

Let’s Make it:

  1. Cut a rectangle from cardboard and cover it with white paper. Paint our flag and let it dry completely.
  2. From foam paper, cut out a maple leaf with a speech bubble that says “Canada Eh!”, a Canada goose, a maple syrup bottle and a Mountie hat. Use markers to add faces, outlines and fun details.
  3. Tape or tie each shape onto a piece of string, then attach the strings underneath the flag. Hang it up and your Canada Day hanging is ready.

Why We Love It:

  • Sparks curiosity and conversation — “Why a maple leaf?”, “What’s a Mountie?”.
  • Builds early geography knowledge — kids connect the craft to the country they live in.
  • Turns craft time into a cozy, connect-and-create moment with mom or dad.
