Ball Counting Sticks

Hands-on counting fun—it’s great for building number sense, coordination and confidence.

You’ll Need:

  • Craft sticks
  • Colored clothespins
  • Dot markers

Let’s Make it:

  1. On each craft stick, draw small pictures (like balls, cars, hearts, stars etc) in different quantities—one on the first stick, two on the next, and so on up to five.
  2. Write the numbers 1–5 on colored clothespins, one number per color.
  3. Mix them up and invite your little one to count the pictures and clip the matching numbered clothespin onto each stick.

Why We Love It:

  • Builds number recognition and early math skills.
  • Simple, low-cost and reusable learning activity.
  • Great for independent play or quiet learning time.
