Backyard Spray Art

Turn your backyard into an art studio—grab your colors, aim high and spray your masterpiece under the summer sky.

You’ll Need:

  • Old bedsheet, white t-shirt, towel or any plain white fabric
  • Water-based paints or food coloring mixed with water
  • Spray bottles, syringes or droppers
  • Bowls for mixing colors

Let’s Make it:

  1. Mix a few drops of food coloring or washable paint with water in separate bowls to make your colors.
  2. Pour the colors into spray bottles or just provide syringes or droppers — whatever your little artist loves using.
  3. Hang your fabric outside on a fence, clothesline or wall so it’s ready for painting fun.
  4. Let your child spray, drip and splash away to create their own masterpiece.

Why We Love It:

  • A great outdoor art activity that keeps the mess outside and the fun flowing.
  • Sparks imagination and confidence—there’s no “right way” to make art here.
  • Easy to set up, easy to clean and endlessly engaging.
  • A wonderful way to enjoy the fresh air and sunshine and it’s screen-free.
