Leprechaun in the Gold Pot

A sneaky leprechaun dove right into his treasure—what a silly St. Paddy’s Day craft.

You’ll Need:

  • Paper plate or sturdy cardstock
  • Black, green and yellow paint or markers
  • Scissors
  • Glue or tape
  • Green paper for the shamrock
  • Empty toilet paper roll (to help your leprechaun pot stand upright)

Let’s Make it:

  1. Cut a pot shape from a paper plate or piece of cardstock, paint it black and let it dry.
  2. To create your pile of gold, use yellow paint with a touch of orange. Dab it thickly along the top of your pot—the uneven texture makes it look like shiny, overflowing coins ready to tumble out.
  3. Make your leprechaun’s legs by cutting two green strips with a shoe shape at the end of each one. Paint only the shoe parts black, then decorate them with small details like gold buckles or tiny shamrocks.
  4. Glue the legs behind the pot so it looks like your sneaky leprechaun dove straight into his treasure.
  5. Cut out a shamrock from green paper and glue it to the front of the pot for a lucky finishing touch.
  6. To help your craft stand, glue or tape an empty toilet paper roll to the back of the pot as a base.

Why We Love It:

  • Encourages creativity, imagination and lots of laughter along the way.
  • Perfect for cozy craft time with parents or grandparents.
  • A fun, low-prep craft that uses simple, everyday materials.
