DIY Snowy Owl

This fluffy little pinecone owl is the perfect mix of creativity and sensory fun for a chilly day indoors.

You’ll Need:

  • 1 pinecone
  • Cotton balls or cotton stuffing
  • Orange and yellow felt
  • Googly eyes
  • Brown pipe cleaners (for the feet)
  • Scissors
  • Glue

Let’s Make it:

  1. Pull apart cotton balls and gently tuck the fluff into the spaces between the pinecone scales to make your owl’s soft, snowy feathers.
  2. Cut two connected yellow circles from felt for the face and a small orange triangle for the beak. Glue them on and add the googly eyes in the center of the yellow felt.
  3. Cut two wing shapes for each side — one larger from brown felt and one smaller from yellow felt — then glue the yellow piece on top of the brown and attach them to the sides of the pinecone.
  4. Twist two brown pipe cleaners into little feet and glue them to the bottom so your owl can stand tall.

Why We Love It:

  • Combines nature and craft for a cozy, hands-on winter project.
  • Encourages creativity and builds fine motor skills while tucking, twisting, and gluing pieces together.
  • Makes an adorable handmade decoration for the season.
