Gingerbread

This happy little gingerbread friend is the sweetest holiday make for kids.

You’ll Need:

  • Toilet paper roll
  • Yellow foam paper (for the head and arms)
  • Colored foam paper (for bow tie and decorations)
  • Googly eyes
  • Buttons
  • Black marker
  • Scissors and glue

Let’s Make it:

  1. Start by cutting a round shape from yellow foam paper for the gingerbread face and two arm shapes for the hands. From purple foam paper, cut a small bow tie to go under the face.
  2. On the circle, glue on googly eyes and draw a happy smile, rosy cheeks and curly hair details. On the hands you can add little palm lines or details for an extra cute touch.
  3. Make two small cuts on the sides of the toilet paper roll and gently slide the foam circle into the slits — this will hold the head in place.
  4. Slightly below the face cuts, make small slits of the paper roll for the hands. Gently slide the foam hands into place to complete your gingerbread buddy’s arms.
  5. Add two bright buttons to the front and use a black marker to draw icing-like squiggles near the bottom. Let it all dry and your cheerful gingerbread friend is ready.

Why We Love It:

  • Encourages creativity and imagination as kids bring their gingerbread buddy to life.
  • Offers a fun, hands-on way to practice focus and patience while crafting.
  • Perfect for pretend play or storytelling once your gingerbread friend is complete.
  • Uses simple materials to make something joyful and full of character.
