Straw Snowflake

This simple craft is a fun, hands-on way for kids to explore shapes, symmetry and creativity while celebrating winter.

You’ll Need:

  • Light blue or white plastic straws
  • Scissors
  • Glue stick or liquid glue
  • Blue cardstock or construction paper (for background)

Let’s Make it:

  1. Cut the straws into different lengths — some long for the main arms and some short for the smaller branches.
  2. Arrange four long straws in a crisscross shape to form the base of your snowflake.
  3. Glue shorter straw pieces at the ends and middles of each arm to create the frosty details.
  4. Let it dry completely and your snowflake is ready.

Why We Love It:

  • Encourages creativity while introducing your kid to basic geometry and symmetry.
  • A calm, screen-free activity perfect for cozy winter days.
  • Turns simple materials into something beautiful and festive
