Footprint Beaver

Turn your kid’s footprint into an adorable Canadian beaver — the sweetest Canada Day keepsake.

You’ll Need:

  • White paper or cardstock
  • Washable brown paint
  • Paintbrush
  • Black marker

Let’s Make it:

  1. Paint the bottom of your child’s foot with brown paint and gently press it onto the paper — heel at the top for the head and toes pointing down for the end of the body. Let it dry.
  2. Use the black marker to add the beaver details: ears, eyes, arms, feet and the big criss-cross tail.
  3. To finish the face, draw a cute nose, a happy smile, two big front teeth and your beaver is ready.

Did You Know?

  • Beavers were very important in Canada’s early history. During the fur trade, they helped communities grow and trade goods across the country. That’s why the beaver became one of Canada’s national symbols in 1975 — and today it reminds us of teamwork, hard work and building something great together.
  • Beavers are Canada’s super builders! Their teeth never stop growing, so they chew, chew, chew to keep them short.

Why We Love It:

  • Turns a simple footprint into a sweet keepsake.
  • Sparks curiosity about nature, wildlife and how animals live.
  • Strengthens fine motor skills through drawing, painting and adding details.
  • Opens the door to conversations about Canada Day and our national symbols.
