Canadian Parade Hat

A simple paper hat that turns little ones into proud Canadian party helpers — perfect for backyard fun and Canada Day photos.

You’ll Need:

  • White cardstock
  • Crayons, markers or paint (red and black)
  • Scissors
  • Glue or tape

Let’s Make it:

  1. Outline the hat shape and the flag together on white cardstock and outline a long strip for the headband.
  2. Cut out the hat-with-flag piece and the headband strip.
  3. On the hat, draw the maple leaf in the center and add the side panels — then color everything in red and white.
  4. Write “Happy Canada Day” on the yellow band (or let your child decorate however they like).
  5. Glue or tape the hat to the front of the headband strip.
  6. Wrap the strip around your child’s head, measure for size and tape the ends together.

Why We Love It:

  • Supports early learning about national pride and symbols in a gentle, age-appropriate way.
  • Turns craft time into a fun, hands-on family tradition.
  • Uses simple supplies you likely already have at home.
